Demo Recap for Pop Up Trailers

7 Step Checklist before raising the roof

1.      Levelize

2.      Stabilize

3.     Waterize

4.      Electrify

5.      Turn on the gas

6.      Loosen the roof clamps

7.      Raise the roof

1. Levelize  Level the trailer using the front dolly jack for front to rear and the tires of the trailer for side to side.  You can put boards under the tires to level the trailer side to side.

2. Stabilize  Put down the 4 stabilizer jacks.  These jacks are for stabilizing the trailer ONLY.  Do not try to level the trailer by putting more pressure on one jack rather than the other jack.  This can torque the frame, putting undue pressure on that frame and can cause the cables to fail when raising or lowering the top assembly.

3. Waterize  Connect the water hose onto your trailer.   Note:  Put the water pressure reducer between the campground faucet and the water hose; that way it will protect the hose as well as the trailer.

4.   Electrify  Connect the electrical cord and adapter if needed.

5.    Turn on the gas  Before you raise the roof and pull out the beds, turn on your gas bottle.  It makes it easier to turn it on at this point rather than have to crawl under the bed.  If you have a vinyl gas bottle cover, a good habit to begin is to leave the gas bottle cover unzipped whenever the gas is on. That way you know your gas is on by just a quick glance at the cover.

6. Loosen the 4 roof clamps  DOUBLE CHECK that all the clamps are disengaged before raising the roof.  You can never check yourself too many times.  If the clamp is left connected, this will damage a cable, causing it to have to be replaced.

7.  Raise the roof     Now you are ready to raise the roof.  If you begin raising your roof and it doesn’t ratchet or lock into place when you stop raising the roof, see our troubleshooting guide for lift system.   Be sure that once the roof has reached the top, that you stop turning the crank.  You do not have to put any extra pressure on the lift system to make the roof stay in place.

You can stop raising your roof at any point in order to go ahead and unzip the awning bag and roll the awning out. It is easier to do it now while you can still reach it instead of letting the roof get all the way to the top and then having to climb on something in order to reach the zipper.  (You can adjust the awning legs later.)  Once you roll your awning out, go ahead and let the legs down and you can put the poles into place.   After your roof is all the way to the top, you can then adjust your awning legs to the correct height.

Checklist after raising the roof

1.  If your trailer is equipped with a slide room, now is the time to pull it out.

2. Set your bed support bars in place as you pull out the beds.  Now you should be finished with everything outside, you can make your way inside.

3.  Once you are on the inside, set your sink galley up and in place to have room to walk around inside your trailer

4.  Place your bed bows in place for the front and rear bed, supporting the top of the tent panels
